Fun Things to Do |
| |
The Girl Scouts of Crowley’s Ridge Council strives to provide many diverse events and activities from which troops &/or individuals can choose to participate throughout the Girl Scout year. No one should feel overwhelmed at the many choices – you should only choose the activities which interest you &/or your troop – not everything that comes along! Council-sponsored events are designed to supplement troop program, but are not intended to replace it.
Note to parents: Can your daughter attend an event that interests her without her leader or group? YOU BET! Just as long as you take responsibility for getting her registered on time, provide transportation to and from the event, and plan to accompany her for the duration of the event.
General Program Event Registration Information:
Fees – GSCRC makes every effort to keep the cost of events at a minimum. Fees charged are to cover the cost of event supplies only, and are due at the time of registration.
Registration deadline – Deadlines are set in order to give event coordinators time to order/purchase enough supplies for all participants. Each event/activity has a specific “deadline to register” on the form. The standard deadline for events is two weeks before the event, unless otherwise noted on the registration form.
Service projects – Since Girl Scouting is a service-based organization, most events will have a special service project request for participants listed on the registration form. Items collected are then donated to the specified group/organization in the name of Girl Scouts of Crowley’s Ridge Council.
Special needs – All special needs (allergies, disabilities, etc) must be listed on registration forms in order to best meet those needs.
Cancellation procedure – If an event/activity must be cancelled for any reason, registered troops (or individual participants) will be notified.
Refund requests – It is the practice of the Girl Scouts of Crowley’s Ridge Council to issue refunds for fees charged for events only if we are notified at least seven (7) days prior to the date of the event. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis in cases of death in the family or serious injury or illness (certified in writing by physician).
Tagalongs – Due to limited space and liability issues and unless otherwise noted on registration form, tagalongs are not allowed at events/activities. A tagalong is any child other than the specific age-level Girl Scout being served at the event. All adults accompanying troops/groups should be so informed.
Adult supervision – Leaders/advisors should follow Safety Wise guidelines for proper girl/adult ratios. Individual participants must have one adult. At all times, troop leaders/advisors are responsible for the supervision of their own troop.
Adult roles at program events – Due to the hands-on nature of many of our activities, adults accompanying girls may be asked to help with activities.
