Theater Badge Workshop
Junior Girl Scouts are invited to have fun exploring the world of theater while earning the Junior Girl Scout Theater badge, which they will receive at the event. This event is being provided by Jonesboro High School’s Thespian Troupe and will include a live performance.
When: Friday, March 2, 2007

Cost: $5 per girl – cost includes the Theater Badge

*Due to the fact that JHS is hosting the state basketball tournament on this evening, parking will be at a premium. We suggest you carpool as much as possible to limit the number of vehicles on campus. There are several parking areas on campus but you will only be able to use the main entrance to the building to access the event.
**Requests for refunds will be honored only if the council office is notified at least seven days prior to the event or with a doctor’s excuse in case of illness.

- Women in Technology & Science (W.I.T.S.) Workshop ~~ The Women in Science organization at ASU invites Junior Girl Scouts in 5th and 6th grades to spend the day on the ASU campus exploring careers focused on the sciences and mathematics. This year’s workshop will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11th from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. (registration at 8:00 am for those not pre-registered). Pre-registration will begin Oct. 15th, online at http://clt.astate.edu/WomenInScience/2005WITS.asp. There is a $5 registration fee to cover the cost of supplies. Girls will attend four 30-minute workshop sessions in the morning, led by women professionals whose careers are based on science and math. Following lunch, girls will attend three additional sessions. Also scheduled are science/math quiz bowl sessions, lunchtime science demonstrations and talks, and a high energy, wrap-up session at the end of the day. Participants are asked to bring their own sack lunch; a variety of snacks and drinks will be provided. “Celebrating Girls with Hope”
Jonesboro Public Library Round Room
Our children face huge challenges on a daily basis, some we may not even know about. This program is designed to shore up a child’s self-esteem and overall well-being. Through discussion and group activities, the girls will explore issues such as self-esteem, friendships, bullying, and body image.
This program is designed for preteen girls (ages 8-11), limited to 20 participants. Reservations may be made by calling the library: 935-5133 ext 20 or 219-2488. No cost.
